How have you grown professionally while at Zynga?
I’ve strengthened my communication and player support skills, learned to handle complex player situations with empathy and professionalism, and collaborated with multiple teams to resolve issues and improve the player experience. I’ve also developed a deeper understanding of community management, conflict resolution, and data driven decision making, which has helped me better support both players and the business.
What’s the best advice you can give to someone who just started their career?
Stay curious, be open to feedback, and never stop learning. Build strong relationships, take ownership of your work, and don’t be afraid to ask questions. Success often comes from consistency, a positive attitude, and a willingness to grow through challenges.
How does the mission – to connect the world through games – shape the company culture?
By keeping players at the center of everything we do. It encourages collaboration, creativity, and inclusivity across teams while inspiring us to create experiences that bring people together. This shared purpose helps foster a culture focused on community, innovation, and making a positive impact through gaming.
Who are some of your major influences at work?
One of my biggest influences at work is my manager, Melani Krol. Her leadership, guidance, and support have played a significant role in my professional growth. She consistently encourages me to take on new challenges, develop my skills, and focus on delivering the best possible experience for our players. Her ability to balance strategic thinking with empathy has taught me the importance of both results and strong relationships.
I am also influenced by my colleagues across the company. Their collaboration, expertise, and willingness to share knowledge inspire me to keep learning and improving. Working alongside talented people with diverse perspectives has helped me broaden my understanding of the business and become a more effective team member.
How do you recognize and celebrate Pride month?
As a gay Black male, Pride Month is an opportunity for me to celebrate both my identity and the progress that has been made toward equality and inclusion. I recognize Pride by reflecting on the contributions and sacrifices of those who helped pave the way for future generations, while also acknowledging the work that still remains.
I celebrate by spending time with friends, family, and my community, supporting LGBTQIA+ voices, and participating in events and conversations that promote understanding and acceptance. Pride is also a reminder of the importance of authenticity, representation, and creating spaces where everyone feels valued and empowered to be themselves.
What advice would you give to others on fostering inclusivity and understanding in the workplace, considering your identity?
Approach others with curiosity, empathy, and respect. Everyone brings unique experiences and perspectives to the workplace, and taking the time to listen and learn from one another helps create a stronger and more inclusive environment. Small actions, such as being mindful of different viewpoints, using inclusive language, and ensuring everyone feels heard, can make a meaningful difference.
I also believe it’s important to create spaces where people feel comfortable being themselves and sharing their ideas. When employees feel valued and respected for who they are, they are more engaged, collaborative, and able to contribute their best work.
