Celebrating API Heritage Month at Zynga

May is Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month and while we are excited to celebrate our wonderful team here at Zynga, we’re also taking the opportunity to continue building and shining a spotlight on our community.
This year’s theme for API Heritage Month is “Power in Unity — Strengthening Communities Together.” We view this not only as a slogan or tagline, but as a challenge to move beyond surface-level awareness and into actions that change how we work, connect, and grow together.
We have a number of exciting initiatives planned for the month ahead, including spotlights of our API colleagues who consistently do the hard, often invisible work of bridging teams and communities across our business. These are unsung heroes who make cross-functional collaboration feel less like friction and more like momentum.
Additionally, we will be hosting a Connection Architecture Elective learning session focused on building stronger, sustainable relationships at work that help Zynga thrive as well as weekly community threads to bolster conversation built around music, snacks, game industry leaders, and content creators from the API community. These are great opportunities to discover something or someone that shifts how we see this industry.
Finally, we will also be organizing local events at numerous Zynga office locations offering happy hour food and beverages rooted in API culture.
Heritage months can easily become performative if we let them. A logo swap, a Slack post, a catered lunch, then back to business as usual. That’s not what this is. This month is a chance to make our community’s impact visible, and more importantly, to make it matter.
