SMARTIES X and SMARTIES North America recognize the individuals and teams who are pioneering marketing transformation in the relationship between brands and consumers. Receiving a SMARTIES award is considered the highest achievement for a company to receive in the field of marketing; as it demonstrates outstanding innovation resulting in significant business impact for brands, agencies, media companies, and technology providers.
More than two billion people play games worldwide each day, across ages and demographics. With this vast and engaging platform, Zynga led the creation of the #PlayApartTogether campaign to help combat the effects and bring awareness to the novel coronavirus, COVID-19.
The campaign began on March 28th, 2020 and received supportive tweets from WHO representatives Ray Chambers and WHO Director General Dr. Tedros. Following the support, the program received interests from companies within the games industry — offering support, special events, rewards, and giveaways to its vast network of players.
Since the program began, more than 65 companies have reached out to express their interest in joining the #PlayApartTogether initiative. As of November 1st, the initiative surpassed 16 billion consumer media impressions for an earned media value of $545 million.
