AVAILABLE POSITIONS Senior Manager, Database Administration

You will be managing a small team of database administrators. Your team will be responsible for supporting, maintaining and further enhancing the use of MySQL, Vertica and other databases inside Zynga. Your team will help provide a stable, high performing storage platform to support a variety of large scale online social games and other applications to help reduce the operational costs of running a business through the use of MySQL and other data storage systems. A passion for gaming is desirable.

Responsibilities:
Manage a team of database administrators
Responsible for database systems in cloud and non-cloud environments
Responsible for data integrity and high availability of database systems
Work with Games and App teams for design, problem solving and best practices
Work with Operations to manage database hardware infrastructure
Participate in on-call rotation as needed
Document procedures
Identify and recommend tools and services for managing infrastructure
Automate systems and deployment procedures
Analyze and develop capacity planning for database growth
Evaluate hardware requirements for database loads based on efficient use of multi-core systems

10+ years RDBMS experience working in a high volume production environment
Solid knowledge of physical and logical database design
Solid knowledge in schema design principles with demonstrated aptitude to apply best practices for scalable designs and influence developers
At least 4+ years as a MySQL DBA in a LAMP environment (Centos/Redhat prefered)
At least 2+ years experience in Amazon EC2 and RDS/Aurora
MySQL 5.x (Innodb and MyISAM)
MySQL replication ( Master-Master, master-Slave, Cluster replication)
Proficiency in writing automation scripts in Perl , Shell, PHP or Python
Knowledge of Subversion, Git or other source code version control and repository tools.

Other Preferred Skills:
Experience with LVM snapshots, Nagios, Cacti and Xtrabackup
Percona Tools
I/O performance tuning
Understanding and troubleshooting TCP/IP networking services
Knowledge of Vertica or other data warehouse systems
Knowledge of NoSQL solutions
Database sharding
Broad exposure to Open Source tools to including automation, monitoring, networking, clustering and database
Experience in online gaming environment
