You will be a member of our product compliance team, and will be able to integrate with all aspects of game creation business – from idea inception to launch. The role will report to the Head of Zynga’s Privacy and Products and will focus primarily on (1) creating, managing, and implementing the processes and tools that support product compliance efforts (with an emphasis on privacy and data security compliance), and (2) marketing review and compliance (with an emphasis on FTC compliance, contests and sweepstakes, and related issues).

Responsibilities:

  • Advise game, engineering, IT, data security, business development, marketing, advertising, and other teams on a full range of issues related to product development and commercialization, including compliance with US and international laws on privacy, data security, marketing, gaming, safety, consumer protection, risk management, and partner relations.
  • You will draft, review, and update foundational documents for product and service offerings (e.g., terms of service, privacy policies, and service change notifications) and internal policy documents (e.g. social media policy, data security breach plan, and data transfer policy).
  • Stay up-to-date and keep the Legal team advised on U.S. and international laws and regulations dealing with privacy, data security, content regulation, gaming, consumer protection, and marketing.
  • Provide commercial contracting support by reviewing product compliance and privacy related issues in licenses, distribution agreements, advertising and promotional agreements, product development agreements, and software, services, and other commercial agreements.
  • Offer, design, and implement process improvements for the product compliance process.
  • Create, update and maintain privacy, data security, marketing andproduct compliance guidelines and conduct product compliance training.
  • Support product compliance due diligence in mergers & acquisitions.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • J.D. with strong academic credentials.
  • 4-7 years of combined relevant experience in a law firm, government agency, and/or in-house legal department, preferably working with technology, media, or online companies on product compliance, privacy issues, and marketing issues.
  • Strong foundation in advising on the legal and regulatory aspects of product development in the technology space. Focus on privacy (COPPA and EU Privacy law compliance), data protection, international data transfer, and consumer protection strongly preferred.
  • Team attitude that no job is too big or too small. You thrive in an environment where you roll up your sleeves and own outcomes.
  • Strong enthusiasm for playing, studying, analyzing and learning about video games, game development, and the gaming industry.
