The Director of Publishing and Marketing Analytics will be responsible for building and leading teams of analysts and data professionals while partnering with disciplines like Consumer Insights, User Acquisition, VIP Management, and Customer Service.

The successful candidate will have a passion for mentoring and developing new talent into strong leaders within Zynga and the Analytics community. Furthermore, this leader will possess deep interpersonal skills and have demonstrated success in partnering with other game makers in disciplines like Product Management, Production, Design and Marketing.

The successful candidate will be passionate about using analytics and data science to impact revenue through customer-centric, data-driven initiatives. He/she will partner with other analytics/data science teams and studio leaders around the globe to identify and act on opportunities to increase engagement, retention, revenue, optimization, and enhance the player experience for our customers.

Lastly, he/she will have a history of  strong technical and  analytical skills across a wide spectrum, including strong proficiency in scripting languages such as SQL, R and Python, telemetry definition and data modelling, data aggregation and manipulation, customer analytics, business intelligence, data visualization, and data science techniques including machine learning, classification, and cluster analysis.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage and mentor a high-performing team of analysts dedicated to providing insights and highlighting opportunities to improve acquisition or manage player lifecycle experiences.
  • Conduct partner relationships with leads from the Publishing and Marketing organizations, including Consumer Insights, User Acquisition, VIP Management, and Customer Service to understand the analytical requirements of the business.
  • Own objective evaluation of marketing efforts, through regular reporting and in person business health reviews.
  • Oversee the creation of  KPI dashboards/reports that signal deviations from expected outcomes, empowering feature owners to manage performance for the business.
  • Own experimentation efforts regarding marketing content and campaigns.
  • Manage marketing organization’s data asset by defining necessary data points, architecting data models, and defining data quality governance.
  • Collaborate with software architects, database engineers, analysts, data scientists and publishing teams to drive key strategic initiatives for the betterment of the data and analytics infrastructure.
  • Be a strategic leader within the analytics and data science organization.


Required Skills and Experience

  • BA/BS degree in a quantitative field such as Economics, Statistics, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 3+ years experience leading a team of 10+ analysts
  • 5-7 years experience in a digital marketing analytics environment
  • Strong expertise in SQL, and Python or R
  • Demonstrated knowledge of probability, statistics, machine learning and predictive modeling
  • Strong problem-solving skills with ability to simplify the complex
  • Resourceful and self-sufficient
  • Top-notch communication and presentation skills, including experience communicating analyses through data with executives
  • Self-starter and ability to own projects from initial question development to rollout
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills
