Zynga Game Network Opens to Third-Party Game Publishers and Developers
Sierra Online, Bigpoint and Come2Play to Launch Games
on
Largest Social Gaming Network
San Francisco – Feb. 14, 2008 – Zynga Game Network (www.zynga.com) today announced that it has opened its network to third-party game publishers and developers enabling them to reach the largest aggregated audience of social gamers across Facebook, Bebo, Friendster, meebo and soon MySpace. Partners, including gaming companies Sierra Online, Bigpoint and Come2Play, will leverage Zynga’s proven distribution to guarantee their games reach critical mass on social networks. The initial third-party games announced include Sierra Online’s web games Capital Defense and Boogie Bunnies and Come2Play’s Backgammon and Bigpoint’s two most popular games Dark Orbit and Sea Fight.
Zynga has built the largest social game network with 1.3 million daily active users and 20 million registered users. In addition to offering reach to the largest aggregated audience of daily social game players on the Web, the Zynga network also allows third-party publishers and developers to tap into a proven monetization engine and offers unique features including game and friend discovery capabilities for users on games within the network. Previously, game publishers and developers had to market their games within directories of more than 15,000 other applications with a small number ever reaching large audiences. According to the Adonomics.com, the top 100 Facebook applications (less than 1% of the 16,000 total) control 62% of the daily user traffic. Of the top 100 applications on Facebook, only 15 are games.
“By opening our game network and sharing our traffic we will offer large and small game publishers and developers guaranteed access to the vast potential audiences on Facebook and other newly opened social networking platforms, rather than being lost in the directories,” said Mark Pincus, founder and CEO, Zynga Game Network. “Game publishers and developers, as well as end users, will benefit from networking high quality games together. We’re looking for stellar game developers and publishers to launch their best content for our users. Zynga will focus on promotion and monetization so our partners can focus on doing what they do best – creating great games.”
“The Zynga network gives us quick access to a huge pool of socially networked players,” said Ed Zobrist, president, Sierra Online. “Zynga provides us an exciting new channel to reach our fan base, as well as a mass audience who may be discovering Sierra Online's content for the first time.”
